Today we launch into a new formula in the Light Blossoms line-up: Deep Quiet. This is my go to for all the ways life can feel overwhelming. Whether it’s active anxiety, uneasiness, or feeling escalated for any reason this spray helps bring me down. It soothes my overly activated nervous system, restoring a sense of peace.
The Deep Quiet formula came into being while I was in the thick of mothering young children. I had a 3 and 4 yr old and we were packing and moving to a new home. I was more stressed and overwhelmed than I had ever been and I knew I needed help. I made this formula to provide an internal reset so I could return to a stable base inside. And it helped! It worked just as I had hoped it would giving me a moment of calm to build upon.
This formula has A LOT to offer and many flower essences are included so settle in to learn about this amazing remedy.
Sagebrush flower essence brings the quiet into the the Deep Quiet formula. At its core it helps us to let go of what isn’t working internally: cluttered inner narratives, ruminative thought loops, fear of the future and unresolved emotional baggage. Sagebrush doesn’t fix anxiety directly but instead supports our ability to let things fall away with trust and grace, creating space for our vast inner nature.
Rock Rose flower essence is one of the key ingredients in the 5 Flower Remedy (aka Rescue Remedy), created by Dr Bach to restore emotional equilibrium during times of extreme stress. Its gift is working with acute terror and panic, and feeling frozen and dissociative as a result. Rock Rose brings steadiness and courage during overwhelming experiences, soothes a flooded nervous system while also calming spiraling fear states. This is one essence I am never without and it is ideal for the Deep Quiet spray.
When I first met and journeyed with the Angelica Plant, I genuinely experienced her as this holy being, enshrouded in light, rooted in my garden. And that first impression really reflects something about her true essence and what she has to offer. She opens higher realms but does so with a rooted presence making her gifts especially helpful and accessible for people who feel unmoored and spiritually disconnected. Angelica is especially indicated during threshold experiences: life, death, major life passages and times where we are between worlds. She strengthens our connection with the spiritual realm during times of vulnerability, when we are feeling spiritually alone or when facing the unknown.
Elm was not my first choice for the Deep Quiet spray but it was relentless in its message that it had an important role to play and I (finally) agree. Its medicine is about reclaiming your sense of ”I am enough” when you’ve lost sight of your inner capacity, particularly during times of stress. It is perfect for people who are generally competent, but hit a moment of feeling like it’s all too much. It helps return you to a grounded sense of “I can handle this”. It creates some much needed space from the spiral of obligations and internal pressure and clears the emotional overwhelm that comes from trying to hold too much at once. Elm invites a deep exhale from doing, solving or managing when striving and perfectionism are blocking access to stillness. It helps you rest without guilt thus allowing you to receive and replenish. Elm restores self-trust and reconnects you with your inner compass.
Arnica is next in our exploration of the Deep Quiet flower essence formula and here she really shines. I chose Arnica because she is good in a pinch for in-the-moment stress, but also is exceptional at helping us to re-enter places in the body where trauma has been long-held and unsupported. She brings a deeper integration of the past, allowing us to more fully reclaim the parts of us that have been harmed. Ultimately whether Arnica is working with something current or past she does so by bringing greater awareness to, and activation of, the wide range of inner psychic resources we have inside.
I can honestly say that Sweet Chestnut saved my life and may be the main reason Light Blossoms exists. I was in my early twenties and in a dark night of the soul. I was having relentless panic attacks, felt as if I had no skin I was so raw and I was suicidal. And nothing was helping. Believe me I tried everything! The only thing that gave me a moment of peace was Sweet Chestnut. Just a few drops and I felt like I could breathe and I was not alone and there was hope. And this is what Sweet Chestnut does in the Deep Quiet formula, it connects us to our spiritual core allowing for a deeper level of surrender, courage and trust.
Star of Bethlehem brings comfort to the system after emotional or physical shock. It helps us integrate fragmented or dissociated parts of our self after an overwhelming experience especially when our tendency is to dissociate. It also assists in recovering from numbness and being shut down from past experiences of trauma, offering a gentle reawakening of the spirit without pushing. Star of Bethlehem invites us into a deep sacred stillness that can feel like being held by something greater and in this way eases lingering tremors beneath the surface that may prevent full rest.
Indian Pink is such a favorite I have to resist the urge to include it in every formula! Including the Deep Quiet spray. Its gifts are so universally supportive, and honestly, I think I’ve needed it myself for most of my life. Essentially, Indian Pink is a holding onto yourself remedy, especially for those of us who by choice or circumstance tend to take on a lot and live with intensity. It assists us to retain a conscious relationship with our inner core while the outer world spins. It keeps us centered and focused, even under stress while coordinating a diverse range of experiences and activities. It helps us hold it all harmoniously without letting go of ourselves.
In the Deep Quiet formula we get a double dose of Lavender, both in its flower essence form and as an essential oil. Lavender flower essence supports those of us who are highly absorbent energetically and tend to be mentally over-active and generally over-stimulated. It soothes frazzled nerves, making it easier to quiet the mind and rest. It does this by helping us integrate spiritual insights into the body, gently grounding higher frequencies and bringing them into harmony with the physical form. This essence is especially useful for those who are highly sensitive, intuitive, or empathic and need help balancing their energetic input.
Lavender essential oil smoothes out inner tension: it is harmonizing, calming and renewing. It inhibits the stress response and is overall quieting and regulating as well as being excellent for sleep.
As you can see, in both forms, these two go together! Both promote calm, balance, and nervous system regulation. And both are supportive for sleep, stress, and emotional overwhelm.
Blue Tansy essential oil is next up in the Deep Quiet formula and it sure is amazing. As a nervous system soother it's one of the most emotionally calming essential oils. It's also a marvelous mood stabilizer and helps when emotions feel overwhelming or when we're stuck in a pattern of emotional reactivity. It's great essential oil for highly sensitive people for whom empathic merging is an every day challenge. The presence of Chamazulene which turns the oil a brilliant blue in the distillation process is a symbolic hint of this oil's alchemically transformative capacities.
The final icing on the cake for the Deep Quiet formula is Chamomile essential oil. Chamomile and Blue Tansy are quite similar to each other but also carry very distinct and important differences.
Chamomile is most known for its ability to soothe. It is nurturing, soft, grounding, almost maternal. And it helps people feel held. Chamomile supports the most tender among us while Blue Tansy is often chosen to help shift deep emotional patterns and provide spiritual clarity. Chamomile is nurturing and gentle while Blue Tansy is cooling, mystical and clarifying. Chamomile feels like a warm blanket and Blue Tansy is like a cool, starry night sky. So you can see both of these oils are a beautiful match for the Deep Quiet healing mist
