When Life is too Much: Integration Flower Spray

I woke up this morning with dreams upon dreams, craving the Integration spray. What perfect medicine for what we are facing! I made the Integration formula specifically for integration after healing work but have found that it is broadly applicable especially in our rapidly changing world. There is so much that happens in a day and if I want to stay up to date with myself I need all the support I can get! Fortunately the Integration Spray is a steady ally in this. Another place where the Integration spray really shines is after plant medicine journeys or other rapid and radical shifts that happen with psychedelic explorations, shamanic work or even extended travel. All the flowers in this formula help our body/mind/spirit to alchemize the vastness of these experiences into learning that can be anchored and utilized in life-giving ways. 

Honeysuckle is one of the key flower essences in this spray and it’s gift is supporting our ability to be adaptive, to face what needs to be faced without looking to the past as the example of the way it should be.

Dogwood flower essence was the first one to raise her hand to be included in the Integration formula. And she is perfect for it! She brings the invitation to soften the body and expand the field, making way for new ways of being and seeing. When we have had repeated exposure to experiences or even information that is jarring, harsh or even traumatic the body wisely defends by hardening and contracting. Dogwood supports the body to release this tension and tap into internal gentleness and sanctity restoring a sense of ease and grace. 

Rabbitbrush joins us next in the Integration spray line-up. Rabbitbrush is one of those essences that we really should add to the water supply. Its magic is helping us to not only manage and tolerate all those details but also integrate them into a broad spectrum perspective - the big picture of ourselves in our life amongst all of life! Whew!  

Oh Lady’s Slipper how I love you! Lady’s Slipper jumped into the Integration formula early on offering her gifts of quieting the body in order to more fully integrate and access our grounded inner authority. By doing this we automatically have more profound access to our spiritual nature as it informs or life and work. 

Even with life being such a colossal shit show so much of the time; I am deeply committed to approaching it with the trust that it is also evolutionary for me. Coming into curious welcoming presence with whatever is happening is key to maintaining this relationship. And this is where Love-Lies-Bleeding aka Amaranthus comes into the picture. It found its way into the Integration Spray to offer a way to be with pain as part of a broader scope of meaning and purpose, holding it with profound compassion for oneself and all beings.

The final flower essence in the Integration Spray line-up is Indian Paintbrush whose very special gift is absolutely essential to integration - grounding! Indian Paintbrush addresses a particular kind of low vitality and exhaustion that keeps us from expressing our creative brilliance. In order to be the truest form of ourselves we need to be able to bring our cosmic multi-dimensional nature into and thru our bodies as the expression of us! This lovely spray supports the field to bridge between our vastness as soul and our ridiculously unique earthy self bringing forth our lively creative offering into life. 

While the Integration spray is complex in flower essences it is simple in essential oils -there are only three, with Lavender being the star of the show. Lavender is harmonizing, calming and renewing. She is a reconciler of contradictions, a harmonizer of opposites and deeply regulating. Lavender essential oil has been shown to inhibit the stress response from both the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system function. It is also an excellent habit-breaker and soother in times of crisis. You definitely want this one in your apothecary. 

Palmarosa essential oil: uplifting, harmonizing, clarifying and balancing, is the perfect medicine for the Integration spray. A native of India with sweet rosy, lemony notes it tonifies the heart and mind while supporting our systems to feel more connected, flexible and optimistic.

And finally the Queen of the flowers, Rose, rounds out the Integration spray. I’ve included her here because of her profound ability to help us open and trust. Rose is unrivaled in nurturing the heart and softly luring us to accept our true feelings and enter the innermost realm of our purest humanness. 

Someone asked me recently What is integration and why do we need to do it? And when do we know we’re done? I think we can all agree that Life is a lot. And sometimes Life is A LOT A LOT: like when there are a lot of changes in our life, after we’ve traveled extensively, had a time of intense learning or a health crisis.

Let’s say in day to day life we drink 8 glasses of water. The need to integrate arises because there are 79 glasses of water and somehow we are supposed to drink them in addition to our regular 8 glasses. (Not a perfect metaphor) When this happens we need time and supportive practices to take in the extra. This can look like: naps, journaling, meditation, time in nature, stillness, creative practice, sharing with a good space holder and flower essences. 

How do we know we’re done? It feels more neutral. There is not a sense of tension, resistance, overwhelm or self-protection in relationship to the event or experience. There are things that take years to integrate. This isn’t about perfection but about honoring our natural pace.
